...oh, I went to the shopping complex to find some new manga and ended up buying the "Biscuit Teacher & Star Candy" DVD from a Speedy Video outlet.. YEAY! It's currently out of stock at Yesasia, for those who want to know.

That's the only Gong Yoo drama I can't watch on the net coz the quality of the streaming video is so bad. I mean, the online clips are okay if you just want to watch the drama and don't care a jot about Gong Yoo. But for someone who wants to rewind his every scene at least 3 times just to stare at his hands, his face or any part of his body.. the bad video quality is really an inconvenience.

I also bought the "BOF Making Of" DVD for hubby. He was really happy with that purchase... (kekeke)

I find myself missing Baek Seung Jo in the middle of watching another drama (Personal Taste: Lee Min Ho). Was thinking, if hyung were to play this role.. what kind of Jeon Jin Ho would he portray?

It's because the way the name was pronounced in the drama sounds a bit like 'Ji Hoo'.. hehe. And the character is an ultra-composed guy who's brilliant at his job.. much like Baek Seung Jo. Anyway, even without proper training in acting.. hyung has managed to win jaded people like me over. So I look forward to the day when he's learnt the craft seriously and improved 10,000 fold. Kim Hyun Joong.. HWAITING!

He's really adorable when he made all those mistakes.. I like the most the times when he was pissed at himself for not getting it right, esp. when he said "Ah! I'm going crazy!!" (he said that a lot in BOF NG clips). LOL ..too cute.

How can a man look so sexy dressing up? No matter how many times I rewind this scene, I'm still gaping speechlessly while watching it.



Now that I'm doing this BOF research project for hubby (a.k.a. grabbing any clip I can find on the net to feed his addiction so I can persuade him to take me on a trip to Jeju Island) ..I think I'll be posting some interesting stuff I found on BOF.

Not that I'm forgetting my PK obsession. Yes, yes.. I'm still doing that picture recap. I think I'll go back to episode 1 and work my way up from now on. Forgive me for my Hani-like snail-paced progress and haywire arrangement. Since most of my blog readers have been following that picture recap project silently, I guess no one will mind however and whatever I do with it.. *merong* (hehe)

[Rambling] Boys Over Flowers - related

First of all, that has to be the shortest time in history (well, my history anyway) of downloading a torrent file for a drama episode.. less than an hour. Playful Kiss has indeed exploded on the net. It's the second last episode.

Ah, thinking about it that way makes me sad. I hope hyung acts in a new drama/movie as soon as possible so I can watch him on screen again. But I also want that solo album and SS501 collaboration album too. I'm such a greedy fan. Please have some rest first, hyung-chama! I don't want you to fall sick.

Anyway.. why did I title this post BOF? Because hubby is currently back-watching the DVD. He finished the 25 episodes in a few days (up until the wee hours of the morning!) and is now catching up with the ones he missed coz I re-watched those when he wasn't around. I openly showed my love for hyung while watching BOF with him and asked him several times.. "isn't he gorgeous??". Hubby was like.. "yeah". *giggles*

(When I was watching Playful Kiss youtube clips on my monitor, he went to me excitedly asking.. "what are you watching now??". Andwaeeeeeee! Do not want to share hyung with him! *ish greedy and possessive* LOL)

He totally did not google about BOF and ask me to give him all the BOF-related clips I found on the net??!!? So, being an agreeable, obedient wife that I am.. I'm collecting all the BOF-related clips I can find HERE. BOF fans are welcome to them as well. I'm going to download them too.. in case they get deleted later.. grrrr.

This BBC News series focuses on aspects of life in countries and cities around the world. What may seem ordinary and familiar to the people who live there can be surprising to those who do not.
India's film industry, Bollywood, is the country's most dominant form of popular culture. 

But there is one exception to this rule - the tiny state of Manipur in the north-east, where separatists have banned Bollywood movies. 

As a result, Manipuri film fans have been looking a little further afield - to Korea. And it's not just Korean movies that have taken hold in the region - the country's influence has also filtered down into fashion and hairstyles, as Sanjoy Majumder discovers. 

I pasted this news here coz there's a scene that shows a very big poster of hyung in one of the shops and some mentions of Boys Over Flowers. Ish cool.

[Blast from the Past] Kim Hyun Joong in Boys Over Flowers

Hubby is watching Boys Over Flowers right now.. by himself. And I can hear him laughing at some of the scenes. Should I be worried? LOL!

He asked me is one of the boys the one I like? (I've shown him hyung's photos in my mobile phone and told him that it's my boyfriend.. hehe). I asked him to guess and at first he said it's Lee Min Ho (whaaa.. ??) and then I told him to guess again. The second guess was correct. As if it's so difficult in the first place. He's already seen hyung's photos all over my mobile phone several times.

He even recognized that one of the songs is the one I keep singing.. usually in the car while he's driving. It's "Because I'm Stupid". I was impressed that he remembers. And hubby said hyung is pretty... like a girl! Omo.. should I really be worried now?? Maybe if he also likes hyung, I can get him to buy me hyung's DVDs.. haha. Dream on.

Anyway, it irks me when I read comments on how hyung has IMPROVED in Playful Kiss.. because his acting in BOF is 'horrendous'. Yes, that's the word used. Which was what prompted me to watch BOF again yesterday. Was it really that bad? I remember thinking.. OH.MY.GOD. that is my Rui right there when I first watched it.

And the fact that hubby, who seldom watches anything other than his spy movies, is watching it on his own right now without falling asleep after 10 minutes is proof to me that BOF is a drama that totally deserves its rating. This is why we should not be influenced by other viewers' opinions when watching a show. That goes for the rating too. If we like it, why do we have to care about the rating? Let the network and the production team worry about it.

Which one do I prefer.. Yun Ji Hoo or Baek Seung Jo? I'd say.. Yun Ji Hoo hands down. Every gesture, every facial expression is loaded with meaning. Hyung has this ability to empathize with his characters. I still think his body language needs more work.. and if he seriously wants to pursue acting, he should get into some acting workshops.. but his understanding of the characters is amazing, according to me.

(just went downstairs.. OMG, hubby's rewinding the scenes! For a guy who seldom works the remote, this is an event in itself.. *ish speechless*)

I think my issue with Baek Seung Jo is the same with my issue with Naoki Irie. I just can't like the guy. I mean, I love Baek Seung Jo.. but I can't like him. Does that make sense? O wellz.. at least I can't hate him the way I hate Naoki Irie.. who seriously needs a kick in the face right up to the final anime episode.

So they're gonna go up to the honeymoon scene with PK? Trust the k-version to resolve an issue, which takes the TW-version several episodes to conclude, in less than an hour. Despite missing the bickering couple dynamics now that Baek Seung Jo is determined to be lovey-dovey with his Hani, I confess to looking forward to their sweet reconciliation. Hope it's a PG-rated affair so I can watch the drama later with my family.

PS: For anyone who's been looking up the blog for my next picture recap... mianhe. The internet at home is being a bish and I can't work on the post at school. Hubby promised me a faster net connection next week.. so hopefully I can get on with it then.

Update: Hubby just told me that he considers Ji Hoo as the prettiest and the most likable character of the F4.. ha! Is that his seal of approval?? I have good taste in men.. lalalalala.

It's like salivating over GACKT's official products all over again and the feeling of frustration at my small budget... sono kanji.. haha. I'm so happy. The more products the company gives out, the more options I have on which one to buy.

Right now the one I can probably afford is the calendar & making DVD.Shall I buy that then? Aaaaaa... really want to buy a SS501 CD but now that they're scattered to the Four Winds, I dunno whether buying the CD will contribute to their commission anymore or not. I have an aversion of making some rich corporate types richer when I have so little budget to afford these things.

I wonder if hyung-kun will come out with a solo album at Keyeast one day. It's possible, right? Being a leader of SS501 doesn't mean he can't make his own music. I wish he'd return to his rocker root. I'm definitely looking forward to a rock album from him. Zettai happy ni naru kara ne!

If a guy could experience that fast beating of the heart when meeting him, what about the rest of us fangirls? I think I will faint dead-away. The Dissection of Yoon Ji Hoo

...according to me.

Hyung loves to read manga, and I have the impression that he likes translated manga more than mahnwa, altho they're mostly shounen ones.. Naruto, One Piece.. mmm, why is Bleach not in his list? It's a good manga, hyung! Go read it!! But I digressed. Being a manga fanatic, I wholly approve of this. Mahnwa graphics are beautiful, but most of the plots are really meh. The only mahnwa I've liked so far is "Daddy Long Legs"...and even then, I hate the way it ends. Arrgh. I usually avoid mahnwa no matter how beautiful the cover is. Waste of my money... sorry mahnwa artists ^^;;

Anyway, so when hyung said he read Boys Over Flowers comic twice, I assumed he read the translated manga one.. not the mahnwa, was I wrong? Is there even a difference in the story plot or characterization between the manga and mahnwa versions? Since I've only read the manga version, the way he played Ji Hoo fit my assumption though.. read this description:

• Rui Hanazawa (花沢 類 Hanazawa Rui^?) is Tsukasa's best friend who becomes Tsukushi's first serious romantic interest. He is generally quiet, but has a soft spot for his close friend and Tsukushi's idol, the model Shizuka Todo, whom he has harbored feelings for since childhood. His character is a bit complex, and his feelings for Tsukushi are in a nearly constant state of flux (varying from annoyance to love), but above all cares about her a lot. In season two of Hana Yori Dango, he grows closer with Makino, but he also claimed that he loved her and that he is the one that would make her happy, not Domyouji. They eventually become very close friends and she depends on him as a confidant. According to Tsukushi, Rui Hanazawa is the one who can heal her wounds and make her feel happy and calm again when hurt by feelings for Tsukasa. Although he still loves Tsukushi, Rui eventually comes to accept Tsukasa and Tsukushi's relationship, vowing to stay by their side to make sure their love goes smoothly. It is suggested that while Rui will always care deeply for Tsukushi, he will eventually meet someone special one day.

Rui has Asperger syndrome, which makes socializing difficult for him. He has trouble recognizing facial expressions: for example, when trying to draw Tsukasa, he drew an expressionless egg with curly hair. These are personality traits which he still holds.

Remember Song Woo Bin said Ji Hoo is erratic (or at least that's how the dialogue was translated)? Combined with his Asperger syndrome, I think this is the hardest character to portray in F4. That was what I thought since I watched Vic played Hua Ze Lei in Meteor Garden, which is when I fell in love with Rui. Simple-minded complicated good-looking weirdos are my specialty. I fell in love with Rui in 2 seconds. Except the one played by Oguri Shun, maybe because he carried with him emotional baggages from all his previous acting experiences. IMO, Rui seems best played by newbies.. which Vic and hyung were at the time.

Poor Goo Jun Pyo.. he never had a chance. The drama was Yoon Ji Hoo's from the word GO. Of course everyone has her/his own F4 favourite, but as a whole.. it was hyung who shines the most. Those who dislike hyung or Yoon Ji Hoo will not have a good memory of watching BOF coz he's in every plot-defining frame. I even thought the director and scriptwriters had a soft spot for him that they gave him all these cute scenes and dialogues to melt girls/women's (and men's too?) hearts. Even hyung said it (as frank as ever) in that New Caledonia interview. It's a good thing that Lee Min Ho is such a good actor, but the Best Actor in the Seoul International Drama Awards 2009 still went to hyung. Well, some of you can protest till the cows come home.. but he got it. I can't believe he won 1st place competing against my lovely Jun Ki. Hmm, maybe I have a talent for liking only the best? Hyung also got 1st place in this Korea Drama Festival 2009 poll. That's good. He loves awards.. :P

I didn't know hyung from Adam when I first watched BOF, so all this talk about him just having a “pretty face” to attract fangirls from all over asia is such a dumbass comment. All the F4 members have pretty faces, that's why they're called Flower Boys, dumbo... get with the program. And I have an aversion to liking an actor just coz he's good-looking. In fact, the more good-looking he is... the more I need him to be talented to like him, or else he'll just get a loud boo from me (which is why I can't watch popular movies in cinema).

I have no technical knowledge about acting, nor do I care to have it coz it's a different world from mine, so why should I bother? I'm just a nobody in the audience. When I saw hyung play that violin, I confess that my first feeling was an allergic reaction. Or more like... WHO'S THIS NOBODY WHO DARED TO PLAY MY RUI?? ...yep, I'm possessive of that character haha. But hyung is the one who played Rui the way I've always imagined Rui should be. See, Hua Ze Lei is too soft. He wants Shan Chai but he doesn't exactly fight Dao Ming Zi for her. Mostly he stays by her side like a calm and vast ocean that never wavers and responds to her whenever he's needed. Yoon Ji Hoo is more pro-active, getting punched violently twice for his effort and forcing Jun Pyo to 'sacrifice his life' in order to support Ji Hoo's struggle to win Jan Di, but despite this... you just know that Jan Di and him are not suited to be together. His grandfather says it best.. he's too quiet. You can sense how reclusive he is, despite him always getting into one activity or another whenever Jan Di is around. How did hyung manage to convey that stillness?? Ish awesome.

A girl wrote in a blog that hyung displayed discontinuous acting. I have no idea what she meant by that but that's how Rui is. Discontinuous. He lives in a world peopled only by those he lets in. Ji Hoo may hug Jan Di a lot, but he has a deep aversion (more like... 'unfeelingness'?) towards other humans whom he does not accept. Jun Pyo, who's supposed to be more volatile and scolds people as he pleases, is a warmer person than Ji Hoo. Being so nice to Jan Di, F4, his grandfather and a few other people and then so cold and emotionless towards the rest of the characters... is that what she meant by discontinuous acting? Only towards the end of the drama, Ji Hoo was able to make some kind of connection with strangers with Jan Di's coercion, i.e. the scene of him playing harmonica in the clinic.

I read a lot of comments about how wooden hyung's acting was at the beginning. I'm not sure if this is true for hyung... like he said, he's still a chick when it comes to acting. But to me, that's the Hanazawa Rui I've been waiting for. Wooden with others, animated with Makino, comfortable with the F4, totally uncaring of his surrounding, emanating such an intense aura just by standing there and watching everyone doing their own thing, single-minded when it comes to pursuing Makino despite knowing they can't be together.. while helping her to deal with her feelings towards Domyouji. There're times when hyung became more natural.. talking, laughing, smiling... and I was sitting there screaming... GIVE ME MY (WOODEN, COLD, ERRATIC) RUI BACK!! (lol) ..and he always comes back. Thanks hyung, for never forgetting.

I love Rui. I love him as much as a warm-blooded person can love a fictional character. I wish I could see him again... played by someone else this time. I still think of the 3 actors.. hyung depicts him as he is, or as I wish he would be... as if he has stepped out of the manga and become human right in front of my eyes. The fact that Kim Hyun Joong is 180 degrees different from him is amazing. Everytime I watch hyung's clip when he has his Ji Hoo style (hair, clothes, etc.) ..it's like I'm watching someone else. I get a dislocated feeling. Have to remind myself all the time that this is hyung during filming, and not a Yoon Ji Hoo's doppelganger. Mesmerizing.

I've written so many words, yet I don't think I've carried out this dissection of Yoon Ji Hoo well at all. Aaaaaa... I fail as a surgeon! 

Afterwards, I tried to search on the net to know more about this Kim Hyun Joong guy. Then of course I found out that the real person is more interesting than the character he played in BOF. How can that be?? hahaha.. it makes watching Yoon Ji Hoo so unsatisfying, demmit. Why would I want to be with Yoon Ji Hoo when hyung is prancing around on my youtube screen being totally adorable and entertaining? He puts me in such a weird dilema.
