You know.. whenever I stumbled upon comment sections like in this one, I get depressed. Not becoz there are people with an intense dislike for Shah Rukh, but becoz there're too many people in this world who apparently have too much time in their hands to argue about silly things like whether SRK is or is not an icon.
What is it to you if he is an icon or isn't?? Do you get a commission for dissing or defending him online in arguments with moronic people? If you want to get into a heated argument on SRK, why not be more cerebral about it? But I have to say.. cerebral arguments involving SRK (and other actors) alwiz end up sounding pretentious and pompous. They make for an amusing read, though.
I wonder if you guys/gals realise that while you're busy 'fighting' among yourselves in forums and websites over inconsequential things relating to Shah Rukh (and the rest of the B-brigades), he's out there working his cute butt off and earning more money, recognition, and personal satisfaction by the second. So, I suggest you guys/gals leave that useless online-bickering activity behind and do the same. You're needlessly bleeding copious dollops of precious time on this earth. What a waste.
But of course this good advice will be ignored by everyone.. as is usually the case with all good advices. I'll just log off and continue with my boring work then, hmmm?

Just mumbling...
I stumbled upon this blog post today... it's not that I'm ranting against it in a big way or anything, but I've found similar posts/forum comments like this scattered all over the net and just feel like mumbling about it in cyber space:
You know guys/gals, people do change. And as we change due to whatever.. age, some big/small life experiences, meeting new people or just coz we feel like it.. the things/people/stuff we love sometimes (or most times, as usually is the case with me) change too. Nobody should point fingers at you and say, "How dare you don't love Shah Rukh anymore!" nor should the change of heart make you feel guilty.
In fact, if anyone were to tell you that you don't deserve to call yourselves SRK fans before coz now you don't love him in the same way you used to, you should tell 'em to bugger the fug off. It's your heart, it's your time, it's your life, hell.. it's your money. You loved him once, and as some romantics say.. it's better to love once than never to love at all.. right? :P
Shah Rukh makes something happen to my heart (kuch kuch hota hai, hmmm?) and as long as he continues to make me feel that special feeling that only a few people can evoke, I'll be around. I wish I could be closer to him, but I also know that it's not really what I want in life. I just want to be the little old me who goes about puttering in her crampy lab doing experiments that may or may not result in something interesting, watching his new/old clips on youtube everyday while wearing down her treadmill (ha! I wish! I run like an old woman..), dancing to songs from his movies a few times a week, buying his DVD whenever she can spare some cash, and writing crappy posts in this SRK blog whenever she feels like babbling about anything SRK-related. I don't want to go to his concert, I don't want to que for his autograph, I don't want to do a darshan in front of his Mannat, I don't want to line up the side of a road to catch a glimpse of him and scream his name when I spot him walking/driving/rushing by, I don't even have India anywhere near the 5 countries I want to visit the most. I'm probably the most useless fan Shah Rukh has ever had!! (lol)
I'm very selfish when it comes to Shah Rukh. I love him as long as he keeps me entertained. I don't know him personally, nor do I want to (coz I think a meeting with him can change my life, and I love my life the way it currently is too much to have an epiphany now) so I don't feel guilty about this. However, let me say something here.. I do pray for him. He is the only muslim celebrity I have ever prayed for. I take my prayers very seriously.. I don't even pray for the goodness of a relative if I don't think he deserves my prayer (there's a relative of mine who I think can pray for himself for all I care). But I do pray for Shah Rukh. I love him lots. He's changed some of the ways I think, and consequentially some of the ways I do stuff, simply by being his schizophrenic self in interviews and by just leading his simple yet complicated life the way he wants to. It's been a fun ride following him from afar so far.
So you know, if following Shah Rukh Khan is no longer a fun ride for you.. you should get off at the next station. You should be happy with the people you spend your time with, even if they're not physically there with you. I have a few others that make me happy, and if anyone tries to make me feel guilty for not focusing exclusively on SRK, I'll kick their arses and tell 'em to bugger off 'n get a life. That's what I think about this 'skrimishies' (this is my own word, don't go finding the definition on google) issue.. I wish me writing about it will make it go away, but unfortunately humans love to torture themselves over skrimishies issues over and over again. It's been happening for millenniums and I doubt that it will disappear simply coz a puny critter like me wish it to. Probably coz it saves us from having to think about heavyweight issues that will require us to take action and do something positive with our lives.. ha!
Whatever. I'm done here.

Ruined by reading...
...is the title of the blog I stumbled upon. Of course I came across it while googling Shah Rukh :P
It reminds me of how I've often mused about the way I've turned out in life due to my incessant reading during childhood. At more than one occasions I have regretted that habit, or more correctly, the choice of my reading materials. Here I am, stuck in the middle of my conventional upbringing and my liberal-minded head. I dare say it often makes me feel more compassion for the plight of others than they rightfully deserve.
I like the attempted review he wrote on Anupama's book. My very honest opinion was it's too short.

Just mumbling...
I stumbled upon this post and I found the 'Personal Analysis' part quite a fun read, so I'm pasting it here.
One thing I always want to say to his fans whenever I read some comments in some forums or blogs, but I never do coz I like to mind my own business when I'm on the web, is that... you can believe Shah Rukh to be whatever person you want him to be, just that don't be disappointed when he's not what you think he is, that's all.
My interest in Shah Rukh is purely virtual, and I can't imagine that one day I'd be face-to-face with the guy. I can't imagine screaming when I see him exiting some hotel. I can't imagine looking him in the eye and asking him questions or even saying 'hello'. I'm so reserved and shy that were I to be at the location shoot with a paper and pen in my hand, I'd likely ask a friend to go and get that autograph from him. I'm hopeless with celebrities and strangers, unless it's for asking directions. And even then, it's because I'm too lazy to find my way around by myself coz I know I'll get lost for sure (me and map don't like each other very much).
I enjoy Shah Rukh in his movies, and while he's doing things he loves doing. I enjoy his interviews like I've never enjoyed anyone else's. I enjoy the thoughts that he disperses to all and sundry in his biographies and speeches. And I'd like to continue enjoying his presence without judging him for what he is and what he is not, for as long as I can. Forasmuch as he appreciates his fans and knows in his heart that each fan he has (which inludes me) is one of the faces in the huge, gargantuan crowd that supports him, I'll be here.

Finally, I read it today!
I've tried to avoid the Fake IPL Player blog but alas, my work is so boring (read: I'm a lazyass) + I felt like surfing + I'm craving to know more about IPL + I want to read up on Shah Rukh and IPL (this despite writing so many posts encouraging him to stay in the background and not give any more KR-related interviews) + my curiosity got the better of me (read: I have no will power).
I found myself laughing out loud at some of the stories (I'm treating the blog as a series of fictional account since that's what it claims to be), he/she really has an engaging way of writing. With all the clues he/she's throwing around and the staff has still not managed to figure out who he/she is, they deserve to have this saala roaming around the camp (and other people's camps too).
But after I've finished reading it (I didn't read every word since I don't really get what he/she's talking about, not being able to watch the game), inexplicably I felt sad. IPL player or not, even the saala wants the team to win and the fact that they're losing every match is a nightmare no one seems to know how to wake up from.
Despite my misgivings at commenting on IPL in someone else's blog, I had to write this coz what he (it's always a male) wrote pissed me the hell off:
I feel as if Mr B is turning KR into a giant laboratory where he can experiment with all his favourite theories that had been rejected by Aussie captains before. How many years more does this guy have on his contract? No matter if KR is owned by SRK or anyone else, as long as he’s at the helm, I doubt there’ll be many changes in terms of strategy (or the lack of it) and performance. I feel like signing a petition for him to get sacked and send it to Red Chillies, or something.
Having said that, for a city who doesn’t stand behind its team in good and bad times, you don’t deserve to have any team representing you in the game. I pray along with you that KR moves to another city that’ll show better support in the next IPL.
Anyway, I'm going on holiday tomorrow to leave behind my worries about KR's performance in IPL 2 (okay, that's me being melodramatic. Someone has got this holiday planned for me sometime ago). This despite my panic state everytime I stare at the calendar and is reminded that my 5th semester is ending soon. I've been writing so much in this blog since its conception only a few months ago that were I to print it out, it's probably going to be as thick as a Malaysian PhD dissertation. I wish my thesis were more interesting than Shah Rukh's life, then I won't have this dilema.
Have fun following IPL, no matter which team you support! Bye~

I feel chastised XD
I read this comment on someone's blog, and I went, "Okay, maybe I should shut up and stop commenting on cricket issues in someone else's blog from now on." LOL
It IS true that I don't understand a thing about cricket ^^; ...o well, I'll still cheer the team but all my (un)knowledgeable comments on KKR updates will be done here in the 'privacy' of my own blog. So that should someone barge in here and give me comments like the above, I can at least tell him to go to hell where he'll prolly get to live a more interesting life.
Anyway, I remember reading the vicious comments on Shah Rukh's ability as a producer when PBDH and Asoka bombed at the box office, and now everyone is saying what an excellent businessman he is.
Even though he said he'd give cricket one year and if it doesn't work, he'll quit... I remember another instance when he said that. It was during his first year of making movies (I think he said it somewhere in here: Shah Rukh Khan interview BBC London 1997 PART ONE, PART TWO, PART THREE, PART FOUR, PART FIVE)
So yeah... I do want him to stick it out with this project, because it's his passion. I want to read what's gonna be said about him 6-8 years from now as a cricket team owner (he owns it for 10 years). I want to see these people eat their words XD
I can see some Ladies are commenting here and defending a Cricket Illiterate SRK Khan. Achal,
Nita etc Since when have you been starting watching Cricket? From IPL? when Lalit Mafia Modi invited this Non Cricketing Barbarian Sharkh Khan. It is not your Dirty Film industry or Fashion show or Disco or Candle Light dinner.
Please stay away from Cricket. we don’t need stupid female viewers like you who can’t even distinguish between Square Cut and Late Cut or Sewing and spin. Cricket Itself is a big entertainer. we don’t need to import any stooge like SRK in Cricket.
