Well, I definitely don't remember these two in the movies I watched! Are they deleted scenes? Hmm..

Embedding is disabled for both, so here are the links:

Shahrukh mesmerized by Madhuris beauty - Devdas
Yeh Maya Hai - Maya Memsaab | English Subtitles

I wonder what is it about Shah Rukh that gets me easily turned on every time he turns that gaze on a girl in his films. Is there such a thing as 'on-screen pheromone'?? If I can go all hot-cold-hot-cold about his romantic scenes while just being another face in the audience, what about the actresses he's romancing? Either he's not their type, or they have some kinda invincible armour against his charm and sex appeal :P

Avatar-joint promo?? Far out!

LINK

Nov 24 2009 : In perhaps the first of its kind of an event, where Hollywood meets Bollywood, the promo of Karan Johar’s ‘My Name Is Khan’ will be unveiled with James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’, globally on December 18.

Avatar is the only non-anime that has managed to grab my attention, so naturally I'm psyched about the movie..altho I know they'll probably botch up the storyline the way they did with Dragonball Evolution (2009) and oh, pretty much the majority of manga/anime adaptations out there (Death Note doesn't count coz it's made in Japanese, the original language in which the story was told, and also my most favourite incomprehensible language ever).

So how cool is it that the promo will be out simultaneously with My Name is Khan? Very cool, according to me. Altho the way they arranged the promotional pictures together was kind of iffy.. but I had fun interpreting the non-existent secret messages that the picture presentation is trying so hard to give out LOL.

Speech in INDIA GATE

Am I the only one who have goosebumps watching this?

If I had not known who SRK and the Prime Minister of India are and someone were to point out this guy while he's delivering this speech to me and tell me that here's the newly appointed Prime Minister of India who replaced Manmohan Singh in the 2009 election, I would have believed it.

You know how we say 'the whole is greater than the sum of the individual parts'? With Shah Rukh, even his individual parts are great. I read many articles where people ask "Who's the real Shah Rukh Khan?". My attitude towards him is thus: Shah Rukh is whoever he is at the moment he is whoever he is. I accept whatever he wants to throw at me, coz each piece of him is blindingly brilliant.

I have no idea what he's saying in the hindi part of this clip, and I have a feeling that I won't agree with a lot of things that he's saying about Islam.. but that doesn't take away the fact that he's so convinced with his truth, it makes my conviction in my truth pales in comparison. Were I to have 1/1000 of his belief in the rightness in which he lives his life in the rightness of how I live mine, I'd be a better person than I am now.. I think.

I've always found it weird how people try to make him into an ambassador of Islam. You don't search for ambassadors of your religion in the cinema halls, dudes. But then this is also a country in which temples are erected in worship of Shah Rukh and pooja are carried out to pray for his health and well being..so out of respect for an unknown world and culture, I hold my silence on this issue. Shah Rukh is who he is because of everything he has gone through, so who am I to complain about things I understand nothing about?

Love you Shah Rukh, and take care!

Another version:

PS: On another note, OMG..someone actually went and typed the speech he delivered in the India Today Conclave, how dedicated is that? (LINK)

SRK is 12 people in this ad!

It's one of those public service ads he does sometimes.

So before Priyanka did a 12-character role in a film, Shah Rukh has already done a 12-character role in an ad. Or technically speaking, 3 ads. Still.. seeing them one after another is a bit disconcerting. I think ads is where he can act any way he pleases, while for films.. there're a lot of things for him to consider before he takes a role. However, I do agree with a commenter in a youtube post that Shah Rukh acts in films where if it hadn't been him acting in them, they would have flopped.

Take Dil To Pagal Hai, for example. What is the story about? It doesn't have a strong plot. And the way the story unfolds, there's no up or down moments and the climax.. does it even have a climax? So why do we love it so much? It's coz Shah Rukh's in it..ha! No surprise there. Is he trying to prove something to himself or is it becoz he doesn't have a nose for good scripts?? Sometimes I worry about his method of choosing movies ^^;; ..but hey, it's worked out for him so far!

Enjoy the ad~~

Is it a wonder that I like Rakhi Sawant?

I like the way she talks altho I understand nothing.. coz she always has this filmi OTT way of saying things. She's a dream when she dances coz she's like one heck of a no holds barred sexy hot chick. Whenever people talk about how plasticky she looks, I alwiz have this urge to ask.. "Toh kiya??". Haven't watched her TV shows though, but I've never been much of a soap opera/reality TV person anyway. What can I say.. I love her item songs.

I keep bleeding love for you

Whenever I want to say, "Hmm, nobody's perfect.." along comes someone like Takeshi Kaneshiro to prove that actually perfection does exist in this world.

(O God, I sound so mushy..LOL)

Takeshi Kaneshiro...

I must have loved him from my previous lives.. if there's such a thing. Or at least, I feel like I've loved him since forever.. mmm, since Lavender (2000) to be exact. Before that I was just salivating over his pretty face. After that movie, I fell in love (or was it lust?) hard. Mostly over that massaging scene.. o yumm.

Then Returner (2002) just made me go on top of the moon mad over him. He's so beautiful, yet he plays all sorts of roles that don't give a dem about his pretty face. In fact, I often find myself getting confused between ogling his prettiness and feeling worried over his characters' luck in life. A lot of his early movies, esp the Hong Kong ones, are really really wacky LOL.

I love him in Lost and Found (1996).. he was such a puppy in that movie.. so cute!

Found his interviews lying around on youtube.. oh, did I forget to tell ya gals/guys that he can speak all those languages fluently?? Needless to say, I went berserk. Takeshi, I love you!!! I'm thinking that I want to dedicate some time to explore the treasure trove I just found on him in youtube. Must find all his nice movies and buy them.. hmmm.

Man at Work!

I envy this cameraman/woman...

Do these clips make him seem more real? More human? More physical? I dunno.. to me, it just makes Shah Rukh Khan seem more adorable.

The one with the basketball made me go, "Girls cannot play basketball!" ..well, in this one it's Shah Rukh who couldn't LOL. Poor basketball, suffering from much gentle abuse.. :P

They're strictly a NO-NO for those who are allergic to Shah Rukh and can't find any satisfaction in whatever he does. To those of you who fall into that category, please.. don't watch these clips, I beg you!! I'm tired of reading comments from masochists who flagellate themselves with endless SRK-bashing on youtube.

Anyway, enjoy the clips!

What others say about Shah Rukh Khan: Madhuri Dixit & Mushtaq Shiekh

Madhuri Dixit (October 28, 2008):

"They're different in many ways," she muses, "Aamir is more studied. He just does one film and he will put his all into that film. I remember I was sitting with Shah Rukh once and he said, 'Madhuri, you know kids who have producers as fathers are very lucky because in a way they are financially secure, they can pick and choose. We don't have any kind of anchor like that so we have to make a place for ourselves and work really hard. Not that they don't work hard, but there's that comfort… But I want to be a producer one day and produce good cinema."

"The way Aamir wants to do things is different from the way Shah Rukh does them. Shah Rukh is very lively, like a livewire. I don't think he ever sleeps! He is someone you can talk to on any topic in the world as he has a lot to say and he knows about a lot of stuff. His is a totally different personality from Aamir's but they both have a common thread which is a passion for their work. Shah Rukh was brilliant in Chak De; it's one of his finest performances." About Salman, she says one couldn't make out whether he was taking in the director's instructions or not while the briefing was on, but in front of the camera, he'd be brilliant and floor everyone.

Well, he did go on and become a producer.. the rest is Bollywood history. Think it's easy to create history? Watch Mushtaq Shiekh as he tells us what happened when Shah Rukh first started out with Dreamz Unlimited.

Ram Jaane (1995)

One of my most beloved SRK movies. I cried in so many scenes.. and it's really odd coz the movie is not about a sad, weepy story. In fact, Shah Rukh plays a tapori character who ends up being hanged for the murder of a corrupt police officer (is that a spoiler?)..yet another movie where Shah Rukh dies at the end. But I really love the way he plays the character of Ram Jaane. I keep thinking about how differently life would turn out for me had I been born in different circumstances and in a different environment. Makes me appreciate my life more than ever.

The on-screen Shah Rukh has the power to make the audience looks at him/herself and sees how he/she would be if he/she were his character. I could watch Devdas and somewhat feel what Devdas feels for Paro. Same here with Ram Jaane. By 'THE END' I find myself weeping for the guy. And the songs are lovely. I even like Bum Chiki Chiki Bum even though there's no Shah Rukh in it, it's so cheerful! Pump Up the Bhangra was really cute.. and savour the excellent timing and the many difficult movements he put into every take. No wonder one of the critics' complaints at the time was that watching Shah Rukh Khan is tiring LOL. Such old men! The energetic, exuberant, and inexhaustible young Shah Rukh is a delight to watch here. I don't remember Phenk Hawa Mein at all, prolly coz I have a thing against all this dancing-between-trees songs that were rampant in 90s hindi movies so I wiped it off my memory altogether. However, Ala La La Long depresses me.. maybe coz I know he'll never get the girl no matter how hard he tries T__T

Out of all the songs, I love Ram Jaane (yes, I cried during this too :P) and Chori Chori O Gori the most. If you watch the 'Ram Jaane' song, about the end of it.. he did this jump and landed on his knees. Well, he did that again in the 1996 Koyla (in the 'Ghoontay Mein' song) and he finally broke them. He had to undergo surgery afterwards ^^;;

Oh, I forgot to say that all the crying & weeping was done while I was watching the unsubtitled CD.. and I don't understand hindi. I think that's one magic of Shah Rukh Khan's that his die-hard fans who understand hindi can never fathom, so we're special! Lucky us.. :P

This blog goes on twitter!

Yes, I've succumbed to technology.. again. Twitter updates are on the RHS of this blog... it's still clunky though, so pls bear with it for awhile.

At the moment I'm just posting links to past posts that I feel like dredging up from the murky water of oblivion, no real updates yet. Plus, Shah Rukh has gone covert after resurfacing during his birthday celebration just long enough to give us a fill of his magnificient-ness, then he's gone.. *poof* ..just like that. Such a tease.

I'm doing twitter coz it's more convenient for short posts with links, rather than going down here and opening up all sorts of schbang just to record them. Meh.. I'm too lazy. Here's to fun times ahead!

What others say about Shah Rukh Khan

This one talks more on Salman Khan & Aamir Khan (interesting stuff too, since the writer claims to live near their neighbourhood), but I only paste what he writes about Shah Rukh coz I think it's a rather cute quote.. :P

From: What a real hero should look like

Shah Rukh Khan is popular with India's middle class and Indians abroad because he looks like a young banker or corporate executive. He's modern and yet traditional, and we love that.

Nice read..

Box Office Analysis of Shahrukh Khan
The Power of Bollywood

Loving them, simply becoz I don't have 1% of the determination these writers have to compile Shah Rukh's works in this way. Long live unbiased studies! (it looks unbiased to me, anyway). The first link has several more related links at the bottom.. they look interesting. I'll look them up later.

LOL!

The moment I watched how uncomfortable he was when Subhash Ghai started praising him, I knew some funny quips were coming up XDD

Korbo Lorbo Jeetbo!

..and of course the interview zooms in to the most important question (at least to Kolkata fans, I guess) with the new coach. Reading the interview, I kinda get an idea about the kind of criteria the management are searching for in Mr. B's successor. And it's the right attitude too: "Team First!" (something Mr. B didn't seem to be clued in until the end. I mean, who cares about YOUR long-term plans if the team you're coaching was shot to hell on the field 2 years in a row.. geh).

Neeways, I can already smell the IPL excitement in the air.. and although I can't follow it avidly this time (by surfing hours and hours for news on the net since I don't own cable and my net is too slowass to stream the games) due to my deadlines catching up on me, I pray for a series of victory in 2010 for the team I support.. KKR, of course! :P

Long Live the King's Men!!!

I guarantee harmony: Dav

Captain Sourav Ganguly’s record, so to say, with Australian coaches hasn’t been good... Greg Chappell, John Buchanan... Is that at the back of your mind?

Look, an easy answer would be that it’s a thing of the past... I know about it, but I’m looking forward to a strong relationship with him... Sourav, I know, feels the same way.

But would there be enough space in the KKR dressing room for two rather strong-minded individuals?

Strong-minded... You’re saying that...I guarantee that there will be harmony within the group. Unless there’s harmony, no team can be successful.

Your impressions of Sourav as captain?

He’s India’s most successful (in Tests) and figures don’t lie... He’s definitely shrewd and has a lot to offer... Sourav’s got the experience and that, coupled with his desire that the franchise do well, is a potent combination... Indeed, he’s central to the scheme of things.

But of course it's as a lover boy that I love him the best.. hehe (what?? I'm just your average hot-blooded girl after all...)

..errr, just can't resist to paste this one. Awww, come on. I know you wanna.. *RESISTANCE IS FUTILE*

So you think he only knows how to play lover boys? Think again...

What do I love about Shah Rukh Khan? Let me count the ways...

#2

The fact that he can see past all the craziness and get right to the heart of the matter.. that the media remains his steady 'friend' from back when he started in the industry until now. Doesn't make a jot of difference how many new faces it continually presents to him, theirs is a symbiotic relationship. He was so popular with the press, I read that he even got a 5-page interview article written on him even back when he was in Fauji (I want to read that interview! Somebody upload it, pls!).

And even though he was the epitome of the 'angry young man' in his youth (managing to nearly get himself jailed for harassing a journo who wrote all sorts of crap about his Maya Memsaab co-star) ..he's pretty collected, more down-to-earth, a picture of humility and patience-personified nowadays. I find his current way of dealing with the media (as opposed to "get out of my face, you annoying upstart of a journo! I want my privacy!" approach most celebrities take) very refreshing, more humane, sharply intelligent, and awesomely cool.

This one becomes invisible, dunno why. So here's the link..

O hey! Check this out ZOMG! I want to watch too!! T___T

Devdas Series: Forgetting Paro I

I drown myself in the bliss of ignorance
Generously poured into a glass
Overflowing as the love in my heart for her
Those eyes its amber surface
Tempting me to remember what I seek to forget

My days are spent worshipping my memories of her
A mere image of those lips
While the nights are passed in unrepressed need
For her touch on my skin
So obliterate me that I may no longer feel

Lift this oppressing silence so I will forget
The jewel I lost to another
Warm my feverish heart with your cool ardor
I will laugh until I cry again
And speed this union of our souls in eternity

O liquid of fire, I beg you to consume me
This humble husk of a man
Engulf me in your flame so that I'll cease to be
A shadow of my former self
This world will not mourn the passing of a lover

Happy Birthday, Datuk!

The more I read of him, the more I love the guy.. LOL. He's super cute! Well, you have to be in tune to that kind of sense of humour to get kicked about it. All you serious, tedious people.. keep out! :P

Ness commented to my rant post, and I have this burning desire to write an essay in reply to her short question. Well, when it comes to Shah Rukh.. everything in this blog inadvertently gets turned into an essay (lol). In the end, I think I should stop myself from going overboard and just come up with a short list of why (I think) SRK got all the criticisms he did over the years, i.e. hamming, familiar mannerisms, OTT (over the top), et cetera et cetera ad nauseam:
  1. First of all, I'd like to clarify to the SRK fandom that it's not only SRK who gets all types of flak from media, anti-fan, etc. Every movie star gets it.. be it from Bollywood, Hollywood, Kollywood, Mollywood, Hong Kong, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, even our (relatively) small Malaysian movie industry with actors who earn not even 1% of what Shah Rukh earns per movie. They all get it. So stop getting depressed about this issue, yaar.
  2. With the advent of internet, everyone who has an opinion can broadcast it to the world (like tiny, puny, little old unknown boring me in this blog). Before, you have to get your articles checked by your editor to get them published. Nowadays, even articles riddled with misspellings and grammatically wrong sentences are deemed as rocking and cool. They get read, re-published, and now.. re-tweeted. We're all essentially reading recycled rubbish for hours at a time whenever we open the entertainment section, which is where most of SRK-related 'articles' reside. The compound effect of all the trashy materials depresses our soul. My advice.. if you can't take it, leave it!
  3. As to SRK's acting as per my opinion.. I mean, you all can have a different opinion about this.. but mmm, see if I care. Shah Rukh has been asked in an interview long ago about why he acts the way he does, i.e. hamming it to the hilt and very stylized.. according to the interviewer (I think I read the interview at Planet SRK forum, my source to most of SRK's old uploaded stuff). He answered something like, "...is there any other way to do it?". So there you have it, folks. I'm asking you guys/gals.. looking back at all his previous films, would you have wanted them done differently? I don't. And people who do.. they can go watch other movies starring other stars, if they know what's good for them.
  4. Contrary to popular belief that critics review movies as honestly as they can, errrr.. they don't. They're there to criticize. It will be weird for a critic to go on and on about a movie they like and stop the article without highlighting something absurd or bad about the movie. IT'S THEIR JOB TO HIGHLIGHT THE BAD STUFF, GET IT? That means, no matter how crazy they are about a movie with paragraphs that start with something like, "...Shah Rukh Khan is simply superb as first the shy Suri and then the flamboyant, full of energy, Raj..", they'll still snuck in a "...But as SRK’s character’s transformation comes in the grip slowly loosens and you start feeling restless with the pace slumping down considerably" (link). See what I mean? Either you stop reading reviews on his movies, or get over it already.
  5. Having said that, I'm in complete agreement with Ness that he gets unfairly slammed on all fronts, esp. during Billu release. O God.. that was such a circus! So much so that I'm now completely numbed and even managed to laugh uproariously at some truly beleaguering posts. Want to know how I get from being pissed crazy enough to shout at my computer screen on some issues to laughing it off and going 'oh, gimme a break here'? I read so much of it and commented so much to it too. Seriously, if you read and commented to the kinda crap people write about SRK over and over and over and over and over x100000000000.. one fine day you just wake up to it and go ...hahaha, that's funny!
  6. I think it's human nature to put everyone and everything under neat labels hence.. Aamir Khan is an 'intelligent' actor, Salman Khan is the 'bad boy' of Bollywood, Shah Rukh is always 'hamming' it.. etc. etc. They said Abishek is 'wooden' ..and here I thought he's the most natural actor I've seen of the younger generation. Hrithik always 'plays larger-than-life characters'. And now they've poised Ranbir as 'the young gun who is giving Bollywood biggies a run for their money'.. even though the kid is humbleness itself (I like his sarcastic reply ..hehe). I personally think that no one from the succeeding generations has managed to surpass Amitabh Bacchan.. and the 67-yr old actor is still working hard like there's no tomorrow with one after another of his old movies being remade by the current crop of filmmakers.. so the thought of younger stars surpassing the Khan Triumvirate is quite ridiculous.. really. They've already got 2 decades worth of work under their belt. By the time Ranbir, Imran, and Abhay get there.. the Khans have already reached the next stages of their careers. Go and catch 'em if you can!
  7. I watched Maya Memsaab (the uncut version) in 1995, DDLJ in 1997 and KKHH in 1999. From being intrigued about Lalit to being confused about Raj to being blown away by Rahul, Shah Rukh has done something none of the actors I've loved has managed to do.. he gets under my skin. He makes me feel what his character feels, so much so that when I watched Devdas.. I empathized with the story from Devdas' POV, not from the POV of any of the women in the story. I was so affected by the character he played that I wrote several poems from Devdas to Paro and to date they remain my favourites among the ones I penned (here's a sample, but I'm warning you.. it's quite blegh so read at your own risk. I've never tasted alcohol so I just kinda imagined this is what Devdas feels about Bacardi.. lol). Okay, to be honest.. my poems are all crappy but I love the Devdas ones the most. Which is why I don't mind what other people think about his style of acting. I love the way he does it on screen, so why should I suddenly be affected by what other people think about it? Shah Rukh has magic!
That folks.. is my *cough* short list. I hope you had fun reading it!

Finally, I just want to say.. I love everything written about Shah Rukh: the good, the bad, and the weird (high on my list right now must be this one.. I am totally amused!). It's really much much worse if I have nothing at all to read about.. that would definitely freak me out. So yeah.. bring it on, babeh! <(^o^)/
